MCDONALD’s is planning on opening a 24-hour restaurant in Northwich.
A number of planning applications have been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) relating to signage – including McDonald’s’ iconic Golden Arches – on the Former Emperor’s Court Restaurant in Manchester Road.
The application relating to the Golden Arches states the words ‘Open 24 Hours’ will be internally illuminated.
While a planning application for the restaurant itself is not currently viewable on CWAC’s online planning portal, three related applications are.
All of the applications were submitted on November 21. A McDonald’s spokesman said the restaurant application should be available to view shortly.
The news has been welcomed by many Northwich residents.
Speaking on Facebook, Michael Cross said: “The existing McDonald's in Northwich is possibly in the most driver un-friendly location as possible.
“This will be a welcome addition to the town as it has massively superior access.”
However, not everyone is quite as enthusiastic about the plans.
Jase Patrick said it was a 'shocking idea'. He said: "Yes, it will get a lot of use but that junction barely copes when there's a moderate amount of traffic and now they're going to shoehorn even more in that area?”
