RESIDENTS have slammed United Utilities after a pipe burst yet again in Moulton.

Piping around the Jack Lane and Niddries Lane has been a persistent problem for the past two years.

On Tuesday the pipe burst again, leaving residents without water for around ten hours and flooding a resident's garden.

Carol Lester, 72, said she is ‘at her wits end’ after the latest flood.

She said: “I’m exasperated. I feel so frustrated. I really am at my wits end. If it happens again I just can’t cope with it.

“My husband has not been well and on top of that I have all this stress. We can do without it. We shouldn’t have to deal with all that.”

Carol said she has been flooded around five times over the past two years.

The last time it happened she was given £100 compensation to replace the plants that were destroyed.

She is still assessing the damage from the latest flood.

“I love my garden,” she said. “I spent two hours raking it. Within a day my lawn was an absolute shambles.

"It’s been under six or seven inches of water. It’s so bad you can’t even see the lawn.

“The children next door have been in there in their wellies, playing in it.

“It’s just getting worse and worse. It’s just an absolute nightmare.”

Fellow Jack Lane resident Graham Scott and his wife Janet, who recently had a hip replacement, were without water for around ten hours after the latest incident.

They were given bottles of water by one of the workers just so they could flush the toilet.

Graham said: “We’re annoyed. If it had been a one off it wouldn’t be so bad, but it’s happening time and time again.

“United Utilities have said it needs relining but they haven’t done it. They need to pull their finger out and reline the pipes.”

United Utilities were not available for comment at the time of going to press.
