PUPILS from Davenham Primary School learned more about the traditional skill of canal-ware painting thanks to another project from the Saltscape Landscape Partnership.
The pupils had the chance to try out the special techniques used to paint the traditional Roses and Castles design associated with narrow boat decorations.
Jane Marshall, who ran the workshops for Saltscape said: “Canals are an iconic part of the region’s heritage, and it’s great to have the opportunity to teach these skills to a new generation of Cheshire schoolchildren.”
Saltscape runs a range of heritage skills courses throughout the Weaver valley and there will be more canal art courses in 2017. Visit www.saltscape.co.uk for more information.
