THREE toddlers were jumping for joy after receiving a letter from the Queen.

Isabelle Keegan, two, Ellie Hogben and Max Chaffney-Green, both three, sent a corgi-themed 90th birthday card to the Queen in June.

The three youngsters were ecstatic to find a letter delivered from Buckingham Palace last week.

“We found pictures of three different corgis and each of the children coloured them in,” Loraine Jackson, the children’s Hartford childminder said.

“We then took a picture of the children holding the pictures and the children sent them to the Queen. We never expected them to get anything back.”

Several months on Loraine and the young ones had given up hope of ever receiving a reply from Her Majesty.

But much to their surprise, the lucky trio received a special delivery in the post on Thursday.

Loraine said: “The post man was on the drive way when we came home, and asked the children what their names were. The envelope was stamped from Buckingham Palace.

“The post man asked their names gave them the envelope. They all just blushed, they were absolutely flabbergasted.”

Each child received an individual keepsake as well as a message on behalf of the Queen, explaining why it had taken so long to respond.

The letter said: “The Queen hopes you can understand that because of the enormous amount of letters, cards and messages that she has received over the last few months, it has not been possible to reply until now.”

Loraine said: “They were really excited. When we got the letters we went inside and looked online and looked at the Queen’s dining room. They were amazed at how enormous the place was.

“I’ve been a childminder for many years but I’ve never written to the Queen. It’s really, really nice. The card they have been sent is a wonderful keepsake.”

It’s not just the children who were excited by the Queen’s card.

The children’s parent were just as delighted.

“The parents are all amazed,” Loraine said. “They all thanked me for doing the project.”
