A 30-YEAR-OLD man is in critical condition following a ‘serious collision’ in Northwich.

At 1.25am this morning police received a report of a collision on Manchester Road involving a red Renault Megane that had collided with a tree.

The incident happened near to the Oakmere Mazda garage and is thought to have happened sometime earlier.

The driver, a 30-year-old man from Northwich, was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.

Two fire engines from Northwich and one from Knutsford attended the scene.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A car collided with a tree on Manchester Road, leaving one man trapped in the car.

“The crews, working with ambulance staff, released the casualty who was then taken to hospital.

“Firefighters were at the scene for just over one hour.”

Cheshire Police are now appealing for witnesses.
