BANK colleagues went back in time to help make children’s wishes come true.

Staff at Barclays Bank at Gadbrook Park held a vintage summer fair and tea room, which featured vintage games.

The fundraiser was organised by the business lending and telephony teams, who converted the lounge area to a tea room with dainty sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jam and cakes.

The diners were serenaded by singers, and for staff who were not able to attend tea and cakes were delivered to their desks.

The event raised £1,396 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity which grants the wishes of children and young people aged between three and 17 living with life-threatening illnesses, and £250 for Retrak, which helps street children in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.

The money raised will be matched by Barclays.

Sarah Snape, who works on the business lending team, has benefited from the foundation when her son was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three.

The charity sent the family to Center Parcs for a Christmas weekend.
