A MOULTON mum who started up her own yoga class has found a permanent home in the village.

Becci Thomson, a 28-year-old qualified yoga instructor, moved to Moulton this summer and has now struck a deal with the Royal British Legion that will see her hold a weekly class at the venue.

Becci, who has built up a following with recent sessions at Dave’s Gym, has been practicing yoga for 12 years after struggling with an eating disorder. She became a qualified instructor three years ago.

She said: “I previously had an eating disorder. That led me to yoga – I found it helped me overcome a lot of struggles and self-confidence issues.

“It helped me feel relaxed and I started appreciating my body more. It was the best thing I have ever done.

“I teach a class for all levels. I don’t believe in beginners and advanced classes, I tailor it. It’s about learning about where you are and not observing anyone else.

“My class is quite a dynamic one. I mix Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga, and give it more of a punchy feel.

“It’s a workout, not just a floaty class, and I give people something to come away with. It gives people more potential to go on and do more.”

While yoga has benefitted Becci’s life in a very personal way, she cites many benefits to taking up the activity and invites everyone to give it a go.

She explained: “It allows you to build up strength and stamina, and increase your range of movement.

“It helps you have more self-confidence, to stabilise and have more balance mentally and physically.”

The classes started last night at the Legion in Main Road, and will run every Tuesday at 7.30pm for £5.50 a session, which includes a bottle of water. People of all abilities are welcome.
