BONFIRE organiser Alison Gerrard is hoping to see another record crowd for this year’s fireworks party at Rudheath.

Just over two thousand people attended last year’s community bonfire and fireworks display at Gadbrook Park playing fields.

The popular event is staged by Rudheath Parish Council, and has seen the number of people attending increase year on year in recent years.

Last year’s attendance was a record, which bonfire organiser Alison Gerrard, chairman of the parish council, attributes to the excellent value of the tickets and the quality of the display.

“We are holding the ticket prices at £1 again, which makes it affordable for everyone to come along and enjoy the display,” said Alison, who has organised the bonfire for the past five years.

“I have not seen a cheaper organised display in the area, and this year’s display is costing £2,700.

“The more people who come along the better, as we can spend more on fireworks and buy better ones.”

The bonfire takes place on Sunday, November 6, with gates opening at 4.45pm.

The bonfire will be lit at 5.15pm, and the fireworks display is due to begin at 6.15pm.

Admission is £1 for adults and children, and refreshments will be available. No alcohol, dogs or sparklers are allowed.

Posters publicising the bonfire are going up around the village, and feature artwork by reception classes at Rudheath Primary Academy.

The Guy Fawkes model for the bonfire is made by Little Owls pre-school, and the fireworks are supplied by Fireworks Direct from Winterley.
