COMMUNITY Engagement Officer Katy Sneyd wants Rudheath and Witton people to ‘Get Involved’ in their neighbourhood.

Katy has been appointed to the role to help the area spend a grant from the Lottery’s ‘Big Local’ scheme.

Katy is employed by Cheshire Community Development Trust (CCDT) on a part-time basis, and her role is funded by Rudheath and Witton Together (RWT), a community partnership of residents co-ordinating the Lottery money for the area.

Her main role will be to talk to residents about the Lottery grant, how this could benefit the area and how people can actively be involved in many ways to influence how the money is spent and managed.

Katy is organising a ‘Get Involved Week’, beginning on October 17, to help small groups and clubs in the area promote their activities.

She said: “This event will be a great opportunity to shout about the fantastic things happening in our neighbourhood, which many of us don’t even know exist.

“There will be something for everyone and it’s all free, so why not give it a go?”

The event will give people the chance to chat to Katy about any ideas or ask any questions about the Lottery funding.

Juliet Aitken, vice-chairman of RWT said: “Rudheath and Witton Together has been up and running for a while, but we realised we needed to do much more to make sure everyone knows about it and how they can get involved.

“We also want to support local groups, activities and events, where people can take part, have fun and build a connection to their community.

“Katy landed the role after demonstrating her drive, passion and commitment to local issues. She is a strong advocate of community engagement and is an active member of her community.”

Tracey McNaboe, chief executive at CCDT said “Katy has hit the ground running and has lots of great ideas for the project.

“This is an exciting opportunity for CCDT to support residents through our collaboration with RWT, and I’m sure Katy’s involvement will really help make this project a success.”
