CORONATION Street’s Brooke Vincent is to perform alongside TV legend Ruth Madoc at Northwich Memorial Court next week.

Brooke and Ruth star in a new production of Amanda Whittington’s debut play Be My Baby, which is on tour in the UK this autumn.

The play is set in 1964. Nineteen-year-old Mary Adams is sent away to a mother and baby convent to give birth to her illegitimate child shame free.

Set against a soundscape of iconic female artists of the 1960s, Mary - along with fellow residents Queenie, Dolores and Norma - must come to terms with their pregnancies, their lives and the fact they may never see their children again.

Brooke, best known for her role as Sophie Webster in Coronation Street, marks her theatrical debut as aspiring pop star Queenie, one of the four mothers-to-be.

Ruth Madoc, best known for her role as Gladys Pugh in BBC sitcom Hi-De-Hi!, is the matron at the convent in a poignant play examining the human need for friendship as it exposes a hidden truth amidst the naivety of the 1960s.

Brooke Vincent, 23, made her first television appearance at the age of 10, playing the role of Casey Glass in A League of Gentlemen, going on to secure the role she is best known for, Sophie Webster in Coronation Street, a role she has played for 12 years.

Ruth Madoc is well-known for the iconic roles of Gladys Pugh in nine series of Hi-De-Hi and Dafydd’s mum in Little Britain.

The play runs from Tuesday, September 27 to Friday, September 30.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and the play starts at 8pm.

There is an additional 2pm show on Thursday, September 29. To book call the box office on 01606 261100.

The production is presented by Anton Benson Productions Ltd, the team behind the record-breaking production of Snow White at the Memorial Court last Christmas and their recent Easter pantomime starring Keith Chegwin.

Anton Benson Productions Ltd is a Manchester-based theatrical production company which specialises in family entertainment. Anton produced his first professional pantomime at The Grange Theatre in Northwich in 2011.
