INDIAN food lovers enjoyed some Bollywood dance numbers on Friday at a fundraiser for African children.

The curry and dance night at the Holdi Indian restaurant at Lostock Gralam raised £1,121 for the charity Retrak, which works to transform the lives of vulnerable children.

Sarah Wright from Manchester and 10 fellow volunteers are set to travel to Malawi in January 2017 to help set up a computer laboratory for homeless children to learn IT.

The trip is being organised through Retrak, and the computer lab is due to be created at the Chisomo Children’s Centre, which works with almost 1,000 children.

The charity night on Friday saw numerous Bollywood dance numbers performed by Bollywood dance group Lalita’s Namastey India.

The event was attended by more than 100 people, and the money raised will go towards IT equipment and an IT teacher for a year.

The evening included a raffle for a three-course meal for two with a bottle of house wine at the Hayhurst Arms, Middlewich, and two dance lessons at Lalita Sivakumar’s Bollywood dance classes at Hartford Village Hall.
