CADETS raised more than £2,500 by completing a sponsored walk of the Sandstone Trail in aid of Cheshire Search and Rescue.
The cadets are from 146 Squadron in Northwich, and the total exceeded everyone’s expectations.
“Unfortunately not all cadets completed the full distance, for some this was their first walking experience,” said a squadron spokesman.
“But everyone put in maximum effort, breaking their own personal goals along the way.
“Eight cadets made it to the finish point in Frodsham, supported to the end by the rest of the team, cheering them along when the going got tough.
The Sandstone Trail is a 55-kilometre long-distance walkers' path, following sandstone ridges from Frodsham to Whitchurch.
Simon Lane, Cheshire Search and Rescue team leader, said: “We’re delighted to accept the donation from the cadets, and are very impressed with their drive and determination to complete this event.
It’s great to see young people supporting our team and helping us to continue our work to help the people of Cheshire and beyond."
The money will go towards a much-needed new control vehicle and the equipment needed to fit it out.
Cheshire Search and Rescue is a team of volunteers who are on call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. It receives no Government funding and assists Cheshire Police and other statutory emergency services.
It is a member of the Association of Lowland Search and Rescue and trains and works with Mountain Rescue teams.
