FOLLOWING the success of last year’s Lostock Music Festival it is being held again, this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31, at Lostock Social Club in Northwich.

There will be 25 bands performing over the two days from all over the country, and the event will be raising money for and awareness of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

Sophie Lancaster died in 2007 after she and her partner were attacked in Bacup, Lancashire. Two teenagers were sentenced to life imprisonment for her murder.

Police said the attack may have been linked to the couple being members of the goth sub-culture, and following Sophie’s death her mum Sylvia launched a foundation in her daughter’s name to focus on creating respect for and understanding of subcultures.

In 2014 Sylvia received an OBE for her work in tackling hate crime and bringing communities together.

Entry to the festival is free, and the organisers will be producing a commemorative CD featuring all the bands who are performing which we will be sold over the weekend.

All profits from the CD and voluntary donations will go to the foundation. There will be trade stalls attending, and free camping is also available.

The festival runs from 11am until about midnight on Saturday, and midday until 9pm on Sunday. The full band line-up and set times are as follows.
