WOMEN in Africa will receive more than 1,000 unwanted bras thanks to Northwich ladies.

The Northwich Vale Royal Rotary Club teamed up with the cancer charity, Against Breast Cancer, in July for their latest initiative.

Residents have been donating their unwanted bras so they can be sent to women in Africa as well as raise vital funds for breast cancer research.

So far, more than 1,000 bras have been donated.

Angela Atkinson, who has been coordinating this collection on behalf of Northwich Vale Royal Rotary Cub, said: “I’d like to thank the ladies of the local community for the wonderful response so far.

“Angela Atkinson Eight large sacks of donated bras have already been sent to Against Breast Cancer to support their wonderful work.”

Against Breast Cancer receive a direct donation for every kilo of bras that are collected and sent to the central collection point.

Once they arrive at the central collection point, they are then checked and sent to Africa.

Angela said: “This project will close on Saturday, August 13, and all ladies are asked to have a final clear out of any unwanted bras.”

A bra collection bin will remain available in St Luke’s Hospice Shop in Witton Street.
