ORGANISATIONS are being invited to apply for funding to run projects aimed at supporting older people.

The invitation comes from Hartford-based Brightlife Cheshire, which works to reduce loneliness and social isolation among the over 50s in Cheshire West and Chester.

It was created in April 2015 with £5 million in Big Lottery funding, and, led by Age UK Cheshire, represents a range of local agencies across the voluntary, public and private sectors.

Organisations are invited to run the following projects.

Buddy Scheme is a £60,000 contract to deliver borough-wide one-to-one support for older people at risk of isolation, helping them to find and access activities in their area.

Opportunities in Older Age is a package of £40,000 of funding and support to deliver a service for older people in Winsford who are approaching retirement or who have faced redundancy.

New Beginnings is a £60,000 contract to deliver a project in Winsford, enabling older people who have experienced significant loss through changes in their life to find new opportunities, social contacts, interests and self-confidence.

The Buddy Scheme tender is open until today, July 22, while the Opportunity in Older Age and New Beginnings tenders are open until August 26.

Organisations must complete a pre-qualifying questionnaire before applying for Brightlife funding.
