WINNINGTON Park Primary School has teamed up with housebuilder Taylor Wimpey to bury a time capsule at the company's housing development in Winnington Village.

Linked to the burial, pupils at the school completed drawings showing their predictions on homes of the future, to be buried inside the capsule along with newspaper cuttings, photographs and development plans.

Anne Jurgis, assistant head teacher at the school said: “We have worked with Taylor Wimpey on a number of initiatives in recent years.

“Our pupils were given the opportunity to help make history, which is just incredible.

“Many of the pupils who participated will be 26 when the capsule is opened again, so it will be interesting to see if any of their homes of the future predictions come to true.”

Since launching the housing development in 2013 Taylor Wimpey has partnered with the school on a number of activities including World Book Day, Harvest and Walk to School Month.

Chloe Dunn, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “We would like to thank the children of Winnington Park Primary School for their fantastic drawings and for helping to bury our time capsule.

“We wanted an exciting activity to mark the end of the first phase of homes at the development, and as many of our younger residents are pupils at the school, we couldn’t think of anyone better to help.”

The Winnington Village development adjoins the school and currently features a range of three and four-bedroom homes.

Anne added: “The activity was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved and we would look forward to working with the team from Taylor Wimpey again in the not-too-distant future.”
