TWO members of Hartford-based marketing design and communications agency greensplash are to undertake a gruelling trek across Iceland for charity.

Stacey Hughes, graphic designer, and Sarah Kavanagh, account executive, will be braving the elements next weekend, July 23 and 24, in a bid to complete a 52-mile trek over two days.

They have been training hard together and with family and friends to ensure they complete this challenge.

Sarah is aiming to raise as much money as she can for Amelia’s Voice, which was set up in aid of seven-year-old Amelia Grace, who was diagnosed with Dystonic Cerebral Palsy Quadriplegia when she was only 18 months old.

While Amelia has an eye gaze communication aid at school, the organisation is dedicated to raising funds so Amelia can have access to her own aid, which would be a huge help in all aspects of her daily life.

Sarah said: “Amelia’s Voice is a cause close to my heart, and raising money will go a long way towards getting Amelia the equipment she needs to communicate in all aspects of life, from education to day-to-day tasks, and most importantly fun.”

Stacey is setting her sights on raising money for her chosen charity Mind, the mental health charity.

Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.

The organisation campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding, and supports 375,000 people across England and Wales.

Stacey said: “I have had difficulties with my mental health at different points of my life and have been working hard to look after it.

“Having been open with those around me, it has amazed me how many people have been affected by mental health in some way.

“Mind has been a source of information for me, which has helped me to understand some of the conditions and enabled me to help others around me in the best way I can.”
