CHILDREN are invited to catch a dream, adopt a pebble person and create a beach scene this summer.

The fun events are some of the family events taking place over the summer holidays at Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse at Northwich.

Children can make their own windmill to take to the beach or garden on Wednesday and Thursday, July 27 and 28, and transform an old golf ball into a garden bug decoration at Golf Ball Bugs on Wednesday and Thursday, August 3 and 4.

The following week Dream Catchers offers children the chance to be inspired by Native American artists and make their own dream catcher.

The activity takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, August 10 and 11.

Adopt a pebble person takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, August 17 and 18, when children can bring their own pebble if they wish.

The museum hosts Beach Scene on Wednesday and Thursday, August 24 and 25, at which children will be able to create a beach scene showing their favourite holiday.

The activities run from 10am to 4pm, cost £1.50 each per child, and anyone wishing to take part can just drop in.

On Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13, there will be The Big Stink at the museum.

A tale of pollution, disease, death and smells, the pop-up exhibition reveals how Northwich became a safer and healthier place to live.

Find out about the history of the toilet, and how the River Weaver was transformed from a stinking sewer in the early 20th century.

It runs from 10am to 5pm on the Friday, and 2pm to 5pm on the Saturday, and standard admission charges apply.

August ends with a Teddy Bears Picnic at the museum from midday to 2pm on Friday, August 26.

Bring along your teddy and a picnic, and join the museum for an afternoon of storytelling, games and crafts.

The event is free, with a suggested donation of £1.50, and is being supported by Northwich Library.

The children’s activities taking place are aimed at the four to 12 age group, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
