MEMBERS of Davenham Ramblers are setting off across Frodsham Marshes next Wednesday, June 29, for their next evening walk.

This will be a four-mile level walk following the River Weaver to where it meets the Ship Canal.

There are good views and dogs are welcome. Walkers should meet at the Bulls Head at Davenham at 6.30pm for car share or outside The Bears Paw, Main Street, Frodsham WA6 7AF at 7pm.

The next weekend walk will be held on Sunday, July 3 in the Plumley area, and the walk leader will be Paul Everatt.

This will be a circular walk of almost eight miles, walking from Plumley station to Tabley Mere and Holford Hall.

The walk will be relatively flat and will cross open fields with several stiles and possibly some cattle and will also include a short section of walking along the A556, so dogs are not advised.

Walkers should bring a drink and a packed lunch, but refreshments will also be available at The Golden Pheasant at the end of the walk.

Walkers should meet at the Bulls Head in Davenham for car share at 10.15am or at Plumley Railway Station, Plumley Moor Road, WA16 9RX at 10.30am.

New members are welcome on both walks, and further information can be obtained from the website www.davenhamramblers.co.uk or by telephoning 01606 76055.

A total of 29 members of the group and friends visited Ironbridge on June 5.

“We had a superb day with lots of time to visit the various attractions and local hostelries,” said group publicity officer Jean Pritchett.

“It was too hot to walk, so we were glad of the shade in the woods, especially where there were steep steps up the sides of the Severn Gorge.

“We managed a circuit of about eight miles, passing most of the museums and stopping for lunch at the Coalport china museum.

“We ended the day with a meal at the Half Moon Inn on the River Severn, where there were lovely views of the river from the garden and terrace. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

“The group’s next outing will be the weekend of July 15 and 16, when we are having a weekend away to Bakewell in Derbyshire.”
