A GAS leak caused staff to be evacuated from Sainsbury’s in Northwich last night as firefighters were called to the store.
One fire engine from Northwich and one from Winsford were sent to the store in Venables Road at 9.41pm yesterday.
Crews were engaged on the scene for more than two hours and a cordon around the store was made while waiting for an engineer to arrive.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the fire brigade was called to the store on Venables Road during the night following a small leak of CO2 gas from the refrigeration plant room, outside the store.
“Thankfully there were no customers present and all colleagues were evacuated immediately, unharmed. The store has opened on time today and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
