DARTS fans have the chance this month to play against one of the sport’s legendary players at the Anderton Boat Lift.

“Eric is a legend of the darts world. He was ranked number one by the World Darts Federation for a record six times and was five times world darts champion.

“Bristow’s skill and personality helped turn darts into a worldwide spectator sport, and he is still great to see and hear today.”

Eric Bristow, MBE, was ranked world number one by the World Darts Federation a record six times from 1980–81, 1983 to 85 and 1990.

He is a five-time world champion, a five time World Masters Champion and a four-time World Cup singles champion.

He won 22 WDF and BDO Major titles and 70 career titles overall.

In the 1980s his skill and personality helped turn darts into a worldwide spectator sport.

The event will be held at the marquee overlooking the giant Lift, known as Lift View.

With its terraced grounds leading down to the River Weaver, the Anderton Boat Lift’s site is a spectacular setting for this event.

The Lift is the world’s first successful boat lift, and this major feat of Victorian engineering is still in operation today.

The Anderton Boat Lift is owned by the Canal and River Trust, and was restored in 2002 after a £7 million restoration, which was made possible due to a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
