CHAD Meadows and Lynn Slinger take on roles made famous by Hollywood legends Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in Moulton Drama Group’s latest production.

The group is staging the female version of The Odd Couple, a classic contemporary comedy by Neil Simon about mis-matched roommates, at Moulton Village Hall, from Tuesday, May 31 to Saturday, June 4.

Walter Matthau played the slovenly Oscar Madison in the 1968 film version of the 1965 play opposite Jack Lemmon as the obsessively-tidy Felix Unger.

Simon adapted the play in 1985 to feature a pair of female roommates, Florence Unger and Olive Madison, in The Female Odd Couple, which was based on the same storyline and same lead characters.

Instead of the poker party which opens the original version, Olive has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit, and the Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the two Constazuela brothers.

In the drama group’s production, which is set in New York in 1985, Chad Meadows plays Olive, the female version of Oscar, and Lynn Slinger takes on the role of Florence, the female version of Felix.

The comedy boasts an eight-strong cast, with the other cast members being Barbara Steel, Sue Slobom, Annie Makepeace, Sue Green, Ian Parr and Andy Dale in his debut for the group.

The comedy is directed by Sheila Hetherington, and tickets are available from Norman and Joan by email at tickets@mdg.org.uk or by calling 01606 594178.

Doors open at 7pm, and all performances start at 7.30pm.
