CHURCHGOERS raised hundreds of pounds for a repair scheme by enjoying a taste of India.

A total of 25 people attended a fundraising meal at the Kanya Café Bar and Bistro in Northwich town centre.

The Taste of India event raised £300 for planned repairs and renovations at Lostock Green Methodist Church, which will cost more than £30,000 to complete.

The church is seeking the community’s support for events being held over the coming months which are raising funds for the much-needed repair work.

In addition a further £300 was raised by a family farm visit at Langford Farm in Lostock Green.

“It was a lovely meal in very cosy, pleasant surroundings, which was enjoyed by everyone, and we would like to thank the Kanya Café for hosting the event,” said Lostock Green Methodist Church steward Rosemary Head.

“We would also like to thank Rachel Gates for the whole event at Langford Farm – for organising the games for the children and providing a meal for the children and adults – it was absolutely wonderful.”

The sum raised by the meal at Kanya, after costs were taken out, included donations from people who were unable to attend.

A fundraising art exhibition and coffee morning takes place at the village rooms at Lostock Green Methodist Church on Saturday from 10.30am to 1pm, followed by a gift day and Lostock Green history display at the village rooms on Saturday, May 21 from 10am to 3pm.

The exhibition includes work by members of the art class that meets at the church.
