CUDDINGTON and Sandiway Youth Club has been given a bright new look by community-minded bank staff.

The Barclays Bank employees spent the day painting the outside walls of the club, helped by youth club members and volunteers.

The team, led by Kay Power, painted the walls blue as part of a community initiative by the bank.

Elaine Beech, one of the volunteers who run the club in Norley Road, Cuddington, thanked Barclays for their efforts, which would have cost the club more than £800.

“The staff donated their time to painting the club and the door frames, which has saved us between £400 and £500, and Barclays also gave us £460 for the paint and materials,” said Elaine.

“We are very grateful to the staff for volunteering their time and for the materials, and would not have managed it without their support.

“The painting would not have happened for quite a while if the team from Barclays had not come and helped us.

“The club had not been painted for about 10 years, and was looking drab and dreary.

“The new blue colour has brightened it up and had made it look fresh and attractive.”

The youth club caters for young people aged 10 and up, and meets on a Thursday evening from 6pm to 7.30pm. The club also organises activities during the school holidays.

New members are always welcome, and the club is seeking to add to its team of volunteers. For more information call Elaine on 07979 802465.
