POLICE are seeking the help of the public in identifying a man who is being sought in connection with a theft on a train at Hartford Railway Station.

A woman was travelling from Liverpool to Crewe when her holdall was stolen from behind her seat. The bag contained items together valued at £2,000.

The man who picked up the bag left the train at Hartford Railway Station.

Police officers have managed to isolate a CCTV image of a man they believe will have information about the incident.

The image has been released by British Transport Police in the hope that someone may recognize the man or have any information about the incident.

The theft took place at about 12.35pm on Friday, January 8.

“The victim was travelling on the 12.04pm London Midland service from Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe,” said investigating officer PC Gary Clarke.

“She had placed her black holdall containing clothing, make-up and perfume, to the value of £2,000, on the floor behind her seat.

“A man picked up the bag and left the train at Hartford Station.”
