PLUMLEY Moor Road in Plumley will be closed for five days next week as part of a series of highways improvements including road marking replacement, resurfacing plus other maintenance activities.
Cheshire East Council’s highways teams have said they will address several issues in 'one fell swoop' in order to minimise inconvenience to motorists and residents.
Work will take place during half-term and will be limited to periods of least traffic.
Between February 15 and 19, road markings on Plumley Moor Road will be replaced and resurfacing will also take place on the stretch between the A556 and Whitehouse Lane.
Traffic will not be able to enter or leave Plumley Moor Road via the A556 at The Smoker public house.
To maximise the use of the closure, maintenance activities will be coordinated alongside the road marking replacement and resurfacing works.
This will see activities such as gully cleaning, green maintenance and replacement of manholes as part of Cheshire East Highways’ total road enhancement approach to highway schemes.
Plumley Moor Road will be closed between the A556 and the B5081 Middlewich Road to allow these works to take place safely. To minimise inconvenience, the repairs will only take place between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm, avoiding the recognised rush-hour periods.
Any winter gritting activities will proceed as normal when required.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times and local residents and businesses have been notified. Access to Plumley railway station will also be maintained but people wanting to get to the station are advised to allow extra time for their journey.
Traffic marshalls will be present to assist motorists through the works and highways personnel will be present to assist drivers wanting to enter or leave Middlewich Road.
They will also be on hand to give help and advice to the public. Local businesses, including the Golden Pheasant public house, Plumley village hall, Plantation garden centre and Holly Tree riding school, can be accessed via Middlewich Road.
Diversions will be in place via the A5033 Northwich Road, the A50 Toft Road and Holmes Chapel Road and the B5082 Penny’s Lane.
