JUNIOR football team managers have raised £1,900 for the club by growing moustaches for a month.

The money was raised by Rick Paton and John Wilson and coach Dave Heathcote for Witton Albion Juniors by taking part in Movember 2015.

The club is hoping to boost its funds further when former Manchester United midfielder Lee Sharpe is the guest speaker at a fundraiser in aid of the Juniors.

The sporting dinner is being held next month at Cranage Hall at Holmes Chapel, and will also feature comedian Gary Marshall.

The master of ceremonies for the dinner is Rob Sproston, and the money raised will go to Witton Albion Junior FC.

The dinner is being held on Saturday, March 19, and costs £40 per person, which includes entry to stand a chance of winning £200, or £400 for a table.

The fundraiser includes an auction and a two-course meal, and for tickets contact Rick Paton on 07710 138154, John Wilson on 07805 915628 or Tim Pont on 07816 055772.

The event is being held in conjunction with Nantwich-based www.speakers2u.co.uk.

The dinner is to be followed in May by a Witton Albion Junior football tournament at the Moss Farm recreational ground.

The tournament takes place over the weekend of May 21 and 22, for the 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s and 11s on the Saturday and the 12s, 13s and 14s on the Sunday.

There are limited spaces available per age group, and the cost is £35 per team.

To request a team form ring Tim, John or Rick on the above numbers, or Howard Crompton on 07890 016963.

Rick, John and Dave Heathcote grew moustaches for 30 days for the Movember fundraiser, which raised £957, which was match-funded by Barclays to take the total to £1,900.

“The total we raised was amazing, as we thought we would get between £250 and £400 at most,” said Witton Wolves manager Rick Paton.

“We would like to thank everyone who gave donations, and Barclays for match-funding the amount we raised.”

John Wilson is the manager of Witton Warriors, and Dave Heathcote is the Warriors coach.
