HEBDEN Green School had a 'superb' response to its fundraising initiative for the British Heart Foundation.
The charity fundraiser was organised as part of the school’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development by the post-16 pupils, and raised £538.
“Post-16 CY class organised an amazing 'Red Raffle' and members of the school community donated red items to fill a hamper,” said Faye Bye, lead SMSCD teacher at the school.
“The response was superb, and we ended up with four large hampers and one small hamper full of red items.
“The students sold tickets for the hamper in the weeks running up to Friday, February 5, and sold so many we ran out of raffle tickets.
“On Friday the whole school came together for a special assembly led by our Post16 PB class, who shared information about the work of the charity made possible only by the donations they had received. “In addition our whole school came dressed in red on Friday for a 50p donation.
“The final amount raised to date is £538.69, which takes our whole school charity fundraising total since September to well over £2,000, a huge achievement for a school with just over 100 pupils.”
