MOTOR traders from across Cheshire got together to re-launch the new-look Golden Spanner scheme of Trading Standards approved garages.
Representatives from both small, independent garages and large dealerships attended the event, which included a demonstration of the new website for the scheme.
Cllr Mark Henesy, Cheshire West and Chester Council's cabinet member for environment and community, said: "The Golden Spanner scheme has been running since 1998 and is one of the longest running trade approval schemes in the country.
"Cheshire West is keen to promote a fair deal for all its residents and this scheme is aimed at taking away any concerns people may have about dealing with garages.
"Consumers can be confident of quality workmanship and top class customer care from the moment they walk through the door or make their first appointment.
"I am delighted that Cheshire West and Chester Council is continuing to offer reassurance to car owners with the highly successful and popular Golden Spanner brand."
By joining the scheme businesses demonstrate a commitment to fair trading and customer care and in return Trading Standards officers work closely with the businesses to make it easier for them to understand their responsibilities.
