FORMER Winsford E-Act Academy pupil Declan Baxter is to star as Nathan Detroit in a production of Guys and Dolls at Sir John Deane’s College (SJD).

After months in rehearsal, the college will stage the Tony award-winning show from Wednesday, February 24 to Friday, February 26.

In a joyous and vibrant celebration of 1950s New York, Guys and Dolls centres on the romantic misadventures of four iconic Broadway characters.

It features some of Broadway’s greatest musical numbers, including ‘My Time of Day’, ‘Luck be a Lady’ and the show-stopping ‘Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat’.

Guys and Dolls is directed by SJD theatre studies teacher Rebeccah Homer, with choreography by SJD dance teacher Esther Wingate and musical direction from music technology teacher Tim Murphy.

Rebeccah said: “After months in rehearsal it’s been a total joy to see the production really come together.

“We have some very talented performers, and I am confident we will produce a not-to-be-missed, high quality production.”

Head of performing arts, Alison Richards, said: “This is an exciting production and a great opportunity for our students to gain excellent performance experience.”

The production of Guys and Dolls builds on the success of previous productions, including the sell-out stagings of Miss Saigon, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Cabaret.

Tickets, priced at £8 for adults and £6 for concessions, are available from the college’s reception. For more information call 01606 810020.
