A TRIO hailed as a 'fantastic group' will be showcasing their talents in Northwich on Friday.

On Friday, January 29, Northwich Folk Club will be welcoming the trio 'Cupola' as their special guests at the Harlequin Theatre on Queen St, Northwich.

Cupola are Doug Eunson, Sarah Matthews and Oli Matthews playing English and European dance music and English songs in three part harmony.

Incorporating melodeons, hurdy gurdy, saxophones, clarinet, fiddle and viola, these three highly talented musicians and singers weave intricate harmonies and beautiful melodies.

Bob Rushton, prrogramme manager, of Derby LIVE and co-director at Derby Folk Festival, praised the trio following their performance.

“Cupola are always a fantastic group to hear play and have as part of any event," he said.

"The playing of all three members is superb, but certainly not in a clinical way – it is full of warmth, energy and what comes across as a genuine love of what they do – meaning you feel instantly drawn in to the music, and the musicians themselves.

"They leave audiences talking about them, and fellow musicians singing their praises – exactly what you need as a concert and festival booker."

Supporting Cupola is long standing club performer Gus Glynn.

Originally from Galway, Gus Glynn’s music encompasses stomping rhythms to sad sweet ballads and atmospheric experimental interludes with deep roots in folk, country, blues, classical and world music, this fine blend of acoustic ingenuity comes alive.

Doors open at 8pm and the night starts at 8.30pm.

Tickets for this special event are £12 or £10 (members) and can be obtained from club secretary, Brenda Yates on 01565733197 or tickets@northwichfolk.co.uk, the Dan website danarts.co.uk or by calling in at Northwich Art Shop, 111 Witton St.
