A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested following an incident at Winsford train station on New Year's Eve.
British Transport Police announced on Saturday evening that officers had arrested a man in connection with a stabbing, which happened in the car park of Winsford railway station on New Year'sEve.
A 28-year-old was stabbed at around 9.10pm when he got off the 8.34pm train from Liverpool, shortly after challenging a group on the train over their behaviour.
A 20-year-old local man came forward in the early hours of January 2 following a witness appeal to trace the suspect.
Det Insp Glen Alderson from BTP said: "I'd like to thank all those who shared the appeal, which resulted in a man being arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent at 2.45am today.
"He remains in police custody and our enquiries into this offence continue. I would urge anyone who has information about what happened, and who we have not yet spoken to, to get in touch."
