A GARDEN in Northwich has inspired a range of jewellery.

ARK Contemporary Designs has unveiled sterling silver butterfly jewellery inspired by the butterfly garden at the Lion Salt Works, in Marston, which is home to Cheshire's buddleia collection.

The new seven-piece collection was designed by Angela Kennedy, owner of ARK, and includes two sets of earrings, two bangles, two rings and a pendant.

Angela said: "The Lion Salt Works Museum’s lovely butterfly garden was the inspiration for this collection.

"In the summer, it is a heavenly-smelling sanctuary full of wonderfully-coloured butterflies.

"I am also inspired by the butterflies that live in the beautiful Cheshire countryside near the museum such as Marbury Country Park, with its ancient woodland, and those that make their home in the unique salt landscape of the Weaver Valley."

The museum’s butterfly garden, established by George Martin and Butterfly Conservation, incorporates 38 different species of buddleia as well as a range of plants selected to attract butterflies and moths.

Cllr Louise Gittins, cabinet member for culture, leisure and wellbeing at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: "The latest silver creations by ARK are delightful.

"Their timeless, handcrafted, classical jewellery attracts a lot of attention.

"I hope our visitors will enjoy the latest collection as well as the wide variety of toys, books and bags that we sell, most of which would make great Christmas presents."

The collection will be on sale in the gift shop at the salt works, in Ollershaw Lane, which opened in June this year after a £10 million, four-year restoration programme by Cheshire West and Chester Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.
