CHILDREN have the chance to have their photograph taken with Father Christmas by drawing a festive picture.

The competition is being run by Barnton Community Group, which is staging a Christmas lights switch-on at Barnton village green on Thursday, December 10.

Father Christmas will be arriving by sleigh, courtesy of the Rotary Club of Northwich and Vale Royal, to switch on tree lights at the green at 5.45pm.

Children are invited to draw a Christmas picture and drop their entry in at Barnton Community Primary School or Barnton Library by Friday, December 4.

The child who draws the best picture will have their photograph taken with Father Christmas at the switch-on at Grange Avenue, where the play area is situated.

There will be glow bands for children, mince pies, Barnton Community Primary School choir and carol singing.

“Everyone is welcome to come along for the switch-on,” said community group chairman Lynn Gibbon.

“Come and support your community group, and let’s make this a memorable village occasion for residents of all ages.

“It is the first time we have had a switch-on, and we will be able to use the lights for other events on the green.”
