A QUIRKY and engaging Christmas production will entertain visitors to a Northwich museum.

'Letters Through Your Door', written by award-winning songwriter David Gibb, will be performed in on of the stove houses at the Lion Salt Works, in Marston.

The play, by Cheshire Rural Touring Performance, is a collection of music and songs for children and is suitable for four to 11-year-olds.

Themes range from the everyday to the surreal – whether finding a dragon in your bedroom, dreaming about swimming in the sea or simply waiting for the postman to arrive.

It is part of the museum's Victorian Christmas Weekend and offers ticket holders chance of getting 25 per cent off entry to the museum on the day.

Cllr Louise Gittins, cabinet member for culture, leisure and wellbeing at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: "It gives us immense pleasure to be staging this children’s performance during the museum’s Victorian Christmas Weekend.

"We hope that before the children watch the performance, they will make the most of visiting the free activities available on Sunday.

"These activities include visiting Father Christmas in his Winter Wonderland, making Christmas cards and paper chains and writing letters to Santa.

"We hope everyone will also enjoy seeing the historic steam engines that will be adding to the interest and atmosphere of the day."

‘Letters Through Your Door’ takes place on Sunday, December 5, at 2.30pm and costs £6 for adults and £4 for under 16s.

Two family tickets are available – two adults and two children for £16 and one adult and three children for £13.85.
