NEW prop Jordan Cox is keen to become part of Warrington Wolves’ attacking philosophy after arriving at the club from Hull KR on Tuesday.

Rovers told the 23-year-old he was no longer part of their plans, despite having a year left on his contract, and Cox jumped at a chance to join The Wire.

The Hull-born forward has penned a one-year deal at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, and has already seen plenty to whet his appetite in primrose and blue.

“The way Warrington play excites me. I’m looking forward to pulling the shirt on,” said Cox, who spent time on loan at Halifax and Huddersfield last season.

“I love the way Warrrington play attacking rugby and I’m really looking forward to working with Rich (Agar), Tony (Smith) and (Lee) Briersy.

“But not only them, players like Ashton Sims, a big dominant guy, and Chris Hill.

“Then you’ve got some quality outside backs like Chris Sandow, Kurt Gidley, Stef (Ratchford) and these are players that I’d love to play with, because they’re all attacking players.”

It has proved a quick turnaround for Cox, with Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith contacting the former England Knights squad man last week.

“I had another year on my deal, but Rovers didn’t see me in their plans so said I was free to go,” explained Cox. “Tony rang me and said he was interested, so the timing’s been impeccable and everything’s fallen into place well.

“Coming to a club like Warrington is massive.”

And 6ft 4in Cox insists the first thing he intends to do is win the respect of his new teammates.

“I slotted in with the lads really well and the coaching and back-room staff have made me feel welcome,” he added.

“I want to play but at the minute I’m just focusing on pre-season, working hard and getting my face in Tony’s mind for selection and I can kick on from there.

“First things first I’ve got to impress the lads and gain their respect, and then impress the coach so he sees me in his 17 from Round One.”

Cox says he will let Wolves fans judge what he brings to the side when they see him in action.

“I’m not really the shy type, not one to hide away. I embrace things front on," he added.
