RESIDENTS were moved to another part of a care home on Saturday afternoon following a television ‘malfunction’.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was called by the home, and delcared the television safe.

The television was in a second floor room at the Avandale Lodge Care Home in Manchester Road, Lostock Gralam, and a fire engine from Northwich attended the home at 12.40pm.

Avandale Lodge is a converted 48-bed care home offering dementia and nursing care, and is operated by HC-One, which runs care homes across the UK.

A spokesman for the home told the Guardian: “The health, safety and well-being of the individuals we support are our top priorities.

“Following a malfunction with a television, as a precautionary measure, residents were transferred to another part of the home and the fire service was contacted.

“The fire service attended the home and declared the appliance safe.

“Staff then removed the appliance – which had recently been tested by an electrician – from the home.

“All residents remained safe and well throughout and were returned to their rooms in under an hour.

“We thank Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service for their support.”
