CORNERSTONE Inns has joined forces with Star Pubs and Bars to reopen The Bowling Green pub in Northwich tomorrow, Thursday, November 12.

The London Road inn is the first pub in the town the company has taken on, and has been closed since November 3.

Dean Elms from Northwich is leading the new team at The Bowling Green, a team which includes James Nicolian, previously landlord at The Egerton Arms at Little Budworth.

“This is the first partnership between Cornerstone Inns and Star Pubs and Bars,” said Cornerstone managing director Damon Horrill.

“A development plan is being finalised which will see a significant investment in the site early next year and the Bowling Green’s full launch as a quality food-led pub.

“In keeping with Cornerstone’s ‘Pub Hub’ model this pub is in the heart of the Weaver Valley, within five minutes of the other five pubs in our estate – The Red Lion, De Bees Music Bar, The Gate Inn, The Prince’s Feathers and King’s Lock Inn – allowing for the company’s core team to manage all areas of business beyond delivery service.

“The plan is to expand this Weaver Valley ‘hub’ to 20 sites within and around the towns of Winsford, Northwich and Middlewich.

“The Bowling Green is the first Northwich pub Cornerstone has taken on, the others being in Winsford and Middlewich, and of particular interest was its riverside location and heritage as the oldest pub in Northwich.

“Dean Elms is leading the new team at The Bowling Green. Dean is a Northwich lad who previously worked locally in The Leigh Arms and The Shrewsbury Arms, and more recently turned around the fortunes of The King’s Lock in Middlewich with Cornerstone.

“We are inviting local people with or without experience to come forward if they are interested in a career in hospitality – we are growing at such a rate that we are constantly recruiting.

“We are focused 100 per cent on the customer experience, and are progressing with the formation of an employees’ benefit trust across the company, and we ultimately plan for the company to be wholly employee-owned.”
