TRAVELLERS have left a Northwich town centre car park.
A group of travellers with around 20 caravans and associated vehicles were parked on Cumberland car park yesterday, Thursday.
The car park, in Leicester Street, is one of the town centre's few long-stay car parks.
Cheshire West and Chester Council, which owns the land, and Cheshire Police visited the group and carried out welfare assessments yesterday.
The group left overnight.
Chf Insp Simon Meegan, from Northwich local policing unit, said: "Local police officers undertook a joint visit with the local authority yesterday.
"Due to the large number of vehicles that were in the long-term car park and the associated impact that this had for those that need parking to both work in and visit Northwich, police issued a direction to leave the land.
"The travellers cooperated fully with this notice and left the same day."
