REAL ales, live music and spooky goings on will take place at a Moulton pub on Halloween weekend.

To celebrate its Pub of the Year award and inclusion in the Good Beer Guide, The Lion, in Moulton, is holding the Ale-Oween Festival from Friday, October 30, to Sunday, November 31.

Dolores Fallon, landlady, said: "Since we received the CAMRA Branch Pub of The Year Award and subsequently an entry into the National Good Beer Guide we have been toying with the idea of creating a small scale ale festival with a view to encouraging people who might not ordinarily come to Moulton to give us a try."

The fun starts at the Main Road pub at 2pm each day with a selection of 10 ales and ciders, with a focus on local brewers.

On the Friday there will be live music by PigDoc.

The Saturday will feature fancy dress, games and competitions for the best outfit, as well as Hallo-Wiggioke, which is karaoke in a wig, and children are welcome at the pub until 8.30pm.

On the Sunday Sophie Dillon, a member of The Lion's bar staff, will play acoustic guitar.

Food will be provided by Clever Catering, a Moulton-based barbecue service.

"We thought it would be a great way for two small businesses to work together and recommend each other," Dolores said.
