A NOVELTY night of snail racing takes place in Davenham this month.

The animated racing will be at Davenham Royal British Legion, in Firth Fields, to raise money for the village's Scout group.

Eight races will take place, with each sponsored by companies and members of the Scout group.

Flatpacks4all of Davenham have sponsored the Flatpacks4all Derby, Brian and Wendy Sinfield have sponsored Brian's Magic Roundabout, Howdens of Crewe have sponsored Howdens Trail Blazer, Deva Travel Chester have sponsored the Deva Dribbling Derby, Gaskell Avenue Dental Practice Knutsford have sponsored theToothy Snail Sweep, Roberts Bakery have sponsored the Roberts Bakery Derby and Mosaic Children's Therapy Centre have sponsored Mutant Missiles.

The race night will be hosted by Peedy Parrot who explains how the betting works, introduces the runners, tells the audience when they should place their bets, conducts live interviews before the race starts and announces the results.

Race night takes place on October 30.

Doors open at 7pm and the first race is 7.30pm.

Tickets are £2 for adults and £1 for children.
