A FULL line up of autumn events are being planned across west Cheshire's heritage sites.

Exhibitions and activities revealing historic gems from the era of the dinosaurs to the industrial revolution are planned in Northwich and Chester.

Weaver Hall Museum, in London Road, is launching a new exhibition called 'A Prehistoric Landscape: Archaeology of the Mid-Cheshire Ridge', which will run from November 21 to February 7.

The new Lion Salt Works, in Marston, will hold a fun workshop for adults on Friday, October 9, called 'Splash and Stitch', which is about dyeing techniques and embroidery on fabrics.

The salt works will hold free 'Fascinating Fossils' drop in sessions on October 17 and 18 as part of Earth Science Week, then young detectives can help solve 'The Stolen Salt Mystery' on October 31.

A talk about what it was like in the Ice Age will be held at the Ollershaw Lane site on November 14.

Chester's Grosvenor Museum is preparing to showcase Samurai pieces made by some of the greatest Japanese swordsmiths and armourers from the 16th century to the present day.

The ‘Samurai Arms and Armour’ event will run from November 14 until February 21.

Chester History and Heritage has a range of Railway themed exhibitions as part of the 175 Years of Railways across Cheshire celebrations.

Cllr Louise Gittins, Cheshire West and Chester Council's cabinet member for culture, leisure and wellbeing, said: “The autumn events and exhibitions programme across our museums really does offer something for everybody.

"From Halloween hauntings and ghost walks to Samurai arms and armour, visit our museums in Chester and Northwich for an interesting or scary outing.”
