A SHOWCASE of town talent takes place in Northwich in October.

The Magic of Music concert will be at Harlequin Theatre, in Queen Street, at 7.30pm on October 10.

Organised by Joanne Storey, who was behind the Northwich X Factor held in January, the event will feature a number of rising stars from the area.

These include Zara Okoro, who won the Northwich X Factor 2015, Paul Capper, Wayne Storey and Chris Tavener, with dancing from Quicksteps School of Dance.

More acts are set to be revealed closer to show date.

Joanne said: "It's a showcase for local talent rather than finding it, which is the mian aim of the X Factor."

The event will be held in memory of Northwich's former mayor Bob Robinson, who died in February, and is in aid of Northwich Multisports, a charity close to his heart.

Joanne said: "I said since Bob died that we have got to do it for him and he's always championed Multisports.

"He had said to me 'how about having a think about what you can do to help Multisports?'

"I hadn't heard about them at that point but he got Barbara to ring me and we had a big long natter and she told me what they are all about and how they struggle for money."

Multisports, whose chairman is Barbara Rimmer, gives young people with disabilities chance to enjoy arts, crafts and sporting activities.

It runs at Northwich Youth Centre, in Winnington Lane, from 10am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.

Tickets for The Magic of Music, priced £5 and £10 for concessions, are available from Curtain Magic, in High Street.
