FIREFIGHTERS rescued four calves stuck in a pond in Northwich.
A fire engine and animal rescue unit from Bollington and a fire engine and rope rescue unit from Knutsford were dispatched to help the animals from their predicament at around 5pm yesterday, Thursday.
The pond was in Crown Lane, in Lower Peover.
Three of the crew wore swift water kit and safety cordons were put in place while the animals were released using a rescue path and sled to help reach them.
A vet was at the scene and the calves were put in a safe place.
Fire crews were on the scene for two-and-a-half hours.
