KICK boxing fan Vanessa Cooper says she feels “more alive” after losing seven stones in weight through a Northwich gym.

Vanessa has transformed her fitness and energy levels since embarking on a training and nutrition regime at MPA Fitness created by gym owner Kevin Whitehead.

Vanessa, 48, from Lostock Gralam, had been going to the gym twice a week since it opened in 2013 until last August, when she set herself the goal of losing five kilogrammes.

Since then she has never looked back, literally going from strength to strength, and has shed 45 kilogrammes, equivalent to seven stones.

She now goes to the gym six or seven times a week, and weighs 70 kilogrammes, about 11 stones.

“I feel healthier, more alive and a lot fitter,” said Vanessa, a director in a family business.

“I also have a lot more energy, and although I have found it hard-going sometimes I really enjoy going to the gym.

“I started going last summer three times a week, and now go there pretty much every day.

“I do a Thai kick boxing class at the gym, and would like to get more involved in kick boxing and boxing.

“I used to go to the gym twice a week as something outside of work, and decided last summer to lose weight.

“I set out to lose five kilogrammes, and the goal kept repeating itself as I reached another five kilogrammes.

“I am happy now with my weight and level of fitness, and could never have achieved what I have without the encouragement and support of Kevin and everyone at the gym, including the nutritional help.”

Vanessa’s training regime included strength and cardio work, and Kevin praised her commitment and determination.

“Vanessa wanted to be fitter, healthier and stronger, and has produced some fantastic results with her weight loss,” said Kevin.

“It’s amazing what she has achieved, and I thought it needed to be acknowledged.

“If people have the right mindset they can achieve anything they want to, and it’s important to start with small steps and not to set your goals too high.”
