A PLANNING appeal for a site in Davenham has been withdrawn and an inquiry cancelled.

Bellway Homes had appealed against Cheshire West and Chester Council's decision to refuse its plans for 53 homes off Jack Lane, near its junction with London Road.

The inquiry was adjourned on June 30 after new information was released about the council's five-year housing land supply.

It was scheduled to start again in November but this has been cancelled now that Bellway has withdrawn its appeal.

The council rejected the original plans because development would be in conflict with the open countryside nature of the site.

Bellway had initially proposed to build 64 homes but resubmitted plans for less houses and a greater area for ecology, including great crested newts.

These plans were turned down in October last year.
