BIG-HEARTED Annabelle Hassell will be sacrificing some of her precious locks this weekend to support young cancer patients who have lost their hair.

The four-year-old from Barnton will be having her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Annabelle is to have at least seven inches of her hair cut on Saturday at Iconic Salons in Barnton, watched by her proud mum Kathryn and her friend Louise Robinson.

Annabelle has just finished at Barnton Pre-School, and her fundraiser was inspired by Louise’s battle with breast cancer.

Mother of two Louise, 41, from Barnton, is a key worker at the pre-school, and has just completed six months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Annabelle’s fundraiser has touched everyone’s hearts, and has already smashed her £50 target, her online justgiving page having raised £300 in only 10 days.

When Louise lost her hair because of the treatment Annabelle offered to give her hair to Louise, and Kathryn told her daughter about the work of the Little Princess Trust.

“Louise losing her hair sparked lots of questions from Annabelle,” said Kathryn.

“She asked if children could get cancer, and was very concerned about little girls losing their hair.

“She is very sensitive and caring, and said she wanted to give them some of her hair as she said she had enough to share.

“I am very proud of her coming up with this idea, and it would be brilliant to raise some money to support her hair cut.”

Kathryn and Louise have been friends for about eight years, and will be at Iconic to watch Annabelle donate her locks.

“It is unbelievable what Annabelle is doing, and I will be going along to offer some moral support,” said Louise.

“My hair is starting to grow back now, and I will be returning to work next month.”

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs for children across the UK and Ireland.

It costs the charity £350 for one wig, and anyone who would like to support Annabelle can visit justgiving.com/Kat-Hassell.
