A WISH list is being drawn up to set out what Davenham needs if investment comes its way.

A village hall, cycle paths, pedestrian crossing and making the village more attractive are among the items on the list so far.

Davenham Parish Council started discussing ideas at its latest meeting so that they can be added to the neighbourhood plan and used to guide development in the village when builders' 'Section 106' money comes in.

This is money that developers pay to a local authority for infrastructure improvements in an area where they build.

A community hall was one of the first things discussed.

"At the moment we don't have the land for this to be a viable prospect," said council chairman Cllr Katie Mattinson.

"We know we need a plot of land and know it's going to cost but at least if we have it on the list it can come forward."

Councillors discussed improving cycle provision from Davenham Roundabout into the village centre, which also prompted discussion of the need for a pelican crossing.

Cllr Arthur Wood said: "There are blind spots caused by people parking alternately on different sides of the road.

"It's one of the most dangerous parts of London Road."

Drainage improvements on Butchers Stile and Laburnum Road playing fields were also discussed, as well as the need to upgrade play equipment at Butchers Stile.

A disabled swing, car parking and wildflower area in Laburnum Road field were also touched upon.

Cllr Keith Carter said the list should not be set in stone.

He said: "Whether for the neighbourhood plan when we talk about 106 monies we should go with the list current at the time but keep a live list on the website?

"We should do that rather than trying to map everything out for the next 20 years now."

The council also decided to work on small projects, like planting daffodil bulbs at Laburnum Road field, as soon as possible.

"Come the spring it will be one more asset to make Davenham look more attractive," said Cllr Mattinson.
