MIDDLEWICH Town’s new-look side saw off Eagle Sports, third in the Cheshire League’s top flight last season, in their final pre-season friendly at the weekend.
A 3-1 victory brings to a conclusion a successful summer for the Witches, who host Daten in a campaign curtain-raiser on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
Before that, they had secured draws against three opponents from higher up the non-league pyramid.
“Things are looking promising,” said Ross Speight, who has joined the management team at Seddon Street to assist John O’Sullivan.
Meanwhile Middlewich reserves, who played out a 1-1 draw with their Eagle counterparts at the weekend, begin the campaign with a trip to Denton Town.
They were relegated to Cheshire Reserve League Two at the end of last season.
