FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire in a shop on Witton Street today, Friday, July 31.
The shop, next door to the St Luke’s Hospice charity shop, was cordoned off by firefighters from Winsford and Middlewich at around 1pm.
The fire to the shop’s wooden exterior panelling was put out with a fire extinguisher by the property owner and firefighters then used a hose reel jet and set up a cordon to make the scene safe.
The panelling was then removed for further inspection and the area was checked with a thermal imaging camera.
It is believed the fire was started by a cigarette.
